Don't miss the CWA Forum in Philadelphia - Nov. 10-12

We hope you will join CWA for a Mini-Forum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, November 10 - 12.

Schedule of events:

The gathering will commence on Friday, November 10, at 4:00pm at Moore College of Art & Design, with a panel discussion by Robyn Horn, Brian Dickerson, and Miriam Seidel, curator of their "CRISS CROSS" exhibition. At 5:00pm, Abraham Thomas, the Fleur and Charles Bresler Curator of the Renwick Gallery, will give a keynote speech. This will be followed by a reception at 6:30pm. At 7:15pm, we will host a dinner celebrating the 20th anniversary of Collectors of Wood Art and honoring all of CWA's founders. We have reserved a private room at City Tap Logan Square, which is a just short walk from the Moore College of Art & Design.

Saturday, November 11, we will use group tickets to visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, which opens at 10:00am. Lunch will be on your own. There will be a panel discussion in the afternoon, followed by a short walk or cab ride to The Center for Art in Wood (CAW) to see the "CRISS CROSS" exhibit, featuring work by Robyn Horn and Brian Dickerson. Then we will visit the Wexler and Moderne galleries, and The Clay Studio (all within two blocks of each other). We will return to CAW at 5:00pm for a special tour of the collection, led by Albert LeCoff. At 6:00pm there will be a reception and ceremony honoring John and Robyn Horn. Dinner is on your own, but there will be sign-up sheets for small group reservations at a number of local restaurants.

On Sunday, November 12, we will visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art to meet with Elisabeth Agro, the Nancy M. McNeil Associate Curator of American Modern and Contemporary Crafts and Decorative Art. Ms. Agro will give us a tour of their current exhibition, "Masters of American Craft," which includes work by furniture artist Jack Larimore (who has agreed to be present), and then a behind-the-scenes tour of the museum's wood objects storage cabinets. At about 12:00pm, we will visit Joe Seltzer's home for lunch and see his large collection of small wood objects.
