Visiting Artist Grant

Collectors of Wood Art
Visiting Artist Program for Universities and Colleges

Applications must be submitted by email to roho@hughes.net

The Visiting Artist Program offers grants to colleges and universities in an amount up to $1000 for the purpose of inviting wood artists to share their knowledge and skills with students. The length and scope of the program should be designed by the faculty of the school's art program and may include demonstrations, slide shows, lectures and interactive classes with the students. The Collectors of Wood Art annually offer grants to institutions of higher learning with a current wood or sculpture program.

Visiting Artist Program Application Rules and Guidelines:
The school must have a current wood, sculpture or furniture program in place.
A faculty member from the wood art program must submit the following:
• A brief statement describing the reason a particular wood artist was chosen
• A brief resume of the visiting wood artist
• A budget pertaining to the visit. Budgets that match CWA funding with the school's funding will be given priority
• A proposed schedule
• A brief description of the school's wood, sculpture or furniture program

Applicants who are awarded a grant are required to submit a short report after the artist has visited, evaluating the impact on students and the success of the visit.

A report from the visiting artist is appreciated, but not mandatory.

Any promotion or description of the event must be accompanied with the notation: "Made possible by a grant from Collectors of Wood Art"

The CWA selection committee's decisions are final.
The artist and the successful institution must confirm the schedule for the visit before grant funds will be disbursed.
The grant must be exercised within 12 months of the award date.
Payment will be made directly to the school requesting the grant.
