Artist Statement

As a woodturner, I strive to create new and novel work using a wide variety of techniques and tools. I have pushed myself toward excellence under the direction of teachers such as Stephen Hatcher, Michael Hosaluk, J Paul Fennel, Eli Avisera, Al Stirt, Jimmy Clewes, Johannes Michelsen, John Jordan and Binh Pho. Through their direction, teaching and mentoring, I have been able to complete a six month Artist in Residence progam at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft 2011-2012. It was a fabulous opportunity and learning experience.

I have demonstrated beginning piercing and texturing classes, taught local workshops on the these subjects and demonstrated at both the SouthWest Association of Turners and the Virginia Woodturners Symposiums.

My work has been accepted for juried exhibiton by the Visual Arts Alliance of Houston 30th annual show and is currently on display at the Houston Center for Contemporay Craft in both the Asher Gallery and the AIR exhibition.

I am currently a member of American Association of Woodturners and the vice president of SWAT. I am a member of Visual Arts Alliance of Houston as well as 3D Artitist of Houston. I am currently a participating member of Archway Gallery of Houston a member owned and operated art gallery of 31 artists.

We provide psychological and neuropsychological assessments to the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services and the Department of Disability Services.
