Gerrit Van Ness
I am most noted for creating socially engaged art, however recently I have developed an additional passion for realism in the sculpture I produce.
I thrive on new challenges. In producing three dimensional trompe l’ oeil, I have found that one of the major challenges is to achieve a sense of transparency similar to that which is achieved with mediums used in two dimensional work. Also of import is the aspect of creating works that will maintain their structural integrity. This involves making objects such as leaves out of fiberglass or other high tech materials, as well as using more traditional materials and techniques.
The past was a beginning, and every day is a journey into the unknown. Everyone should be having this much fun!
