Spheres are the most difficult forms to design, as they are too universal, too perfect, thus ultimately challenging. This piece pulls its power from its broad range of textures, the hidden images within its varying surface patterns, and the transparency of the lighter hues emerging from beneath the blackened body of the form. Because it can be rotated to any position on the acrylic base, it draws on a kinetic potential that is not present with vessel forms.
