"Ash Pot"

Spalted black ash burl is one of the most seductive materials I have worked with. Its yellow-to-tan color mix and variegated patterns remind me of organized chaos, like a blowup of a pointillist painting. The natural fissure across the top, slightly adjacent to the opening of the form creates a sense of random order that completes the piece in an unpredictable way.
