The main skin is a single board of Tasur Birch that I resawed to 1/8" veneer to get the sand dune curly effect. The base is Mexican Royal Ebony. The rest is various exotic woods and found objects. I hand formed the acrylic bubble over a turned waste piece. The shuttle bay opens and the Satin wood shuttle is held in the bay by a magnectic field. Also notice the "Man" working on the final stages of the ship at the top.The structure was created through AutoCAD and then layers of MDF were cut out on a CNC. Channels were cut for the lighting which are controlled by switches in the base. once assembled the shape was smoothed and veneered. This piece was started in early 2007 and took more than a year to complete. This piece is large, I would personally deliver, any reasonable distance in the continental US, set up and discuss how to interact with this piece with the collector.
