#441 Dragonfly Floating
2009 Size H: 3.1 in W: 6.2 in D: 5.6 in
In a private collection
The extraordinary piece of Philippine Ebony used for the base is both black and brown, with a stunning chatoyant ripple in the grain. I could only see gently rippling water when I contemplated what to do with the wood. The water lily bud, dragonfly and lily pads are made from boxwood, with horn and moonstone additions. The intent for this installation piece is to be a lily pond with floating lily pads that may be moved about and to be a forever changing scene, as lily pads might drift from moment to moment on a real pond's surface.
