Running Rabbit was the first piece carved in 2011, the year of the Rabbit, and is happily running away from the year of the Tiger. Carved from Mountain Mahogany (a gift from KOMADA Ryushi, a much respected netsuke carver from Japan), its eyes are inlaid with African Blackwood (also a gift, from Dale Chase). This is a netsuke that has 'natural himotoshi' or a natural cord hole formed a leg and the body. Running Rabbit is on exhibition in Japan with Mr. Hidekazu Yamada, Yamada Company, Ltd. until it is sold or returned.
