This cylinder is part of my learning series where I study the works of artists I am fond of, not to replicate their work but to create a piece that they could have created. Its my way to learn art history. I use the wood cylinders I turn as my canvas. This piece is inspired by the works of Kasimir Malevich who changed the course of Russian painting in the early 1900's by introduding abstract art to the public, for which he paid dearly. Of Ash, with the background aribrushed to give the impression of kraft paper. The motif was airbrushed and lines drawn with ink pens. Finished with spar urethane varnish to give it a glass-like look and feel while brigning out the beauty of the wood.
