Artist's Shirt, Anonymous

In a private collection
I usually carve everything from a solid piece of stock to avoid lamination lines, which are a problem when bleaching light wood, in this case Basswood. The exception with this piece though are the brushes. They were carved separately so I could get better detail in the bristles behind the brush, the area up close to the shirt. The brushes are actually strategically placed to cover up a large knot which I uncovered in the midst of carving. It was too late to turn back.
