Death Of A Violin

Dan Driscoll

2013    Size   H: 6 in  W: 25 in  D: 10 in

This sculpture was carved from a single block of Basswood. There are no laminations. It is modeled after a full size violin, also referred to as 4/4. The bow is authentic. I use no paint. Instead, a 2 part artist bleach is applied to the wood which removes all of the natural color, leaving the "linen cloth", pearl white. The final piece in a 3 part series.
