Dali's Origami.

Dan Driscoll

2012    Size   H: 9 in  W: 18 in  D: 10 in

"Quite often he would while-away the solitude of those lazy, suburban, summer nights, with innocent and trivial distractions, using whatever materials he could sneak into his small and entirely isolated room." 2012. The origami bird, the linen cloth, and the egg shells are all carved from Basswood, and then bleached. I use a two part commercial artist's bleach that works very well with Basswood, and renders it completey white, almost like bone. The base that everything is sitting on is Tiger Maple. (Most of my pieces include a short narrative, sort of a vignette to capture the very moment.)
