This carving was the result of a frustrating lack of imagination. I needed subject matter, and I didn't have one. Anxiety unsued. A mental block. Then a cathartic moment, and the floodgates opened. That,"perfect subject", was simply hidded in plain sight. There it was, all around me. Ubiquitous, yet beautiful and magnificent form. That moment forever changed my inspiration, and also the process by which I work. I have sinse built upon that moment. This carving is from a single piece of Basswood. It has been bleached and finished with a flat, latex based, artist's varnish.
