My love of carving began as a small child. First creating images from Ivory soap with a pocket knife, then letter openers from kindling wood and arrows from tree suckers before graduating to the use of chisel and mallet. In the early 1980's I began serious fine art sculpting, winning awards in juried shows and selling my work through a Seattle art gallery. Then life intervened with other plans and it was 2013 before I was able to resume my artwork on a full-time basis, working in wood salvaged locally in the Pacific Northwest. My recent work has been shown in galleries, art fairs, and special exhibitions in and around Seattle as well as online. One of my pieces was recently featured on the back cover of American Craft magazine *(Feb/March 2017). A complete list of exhibitions can be found on my website: www.marceildelacy.com.
